MANITOWOC — Sr. Sharon Paul, 80, a Franciscan Sister of Christian Charity, died June 16 at St. Benedict Convent in Cambridge, Ohio.
Sr. Sharon’s home parish was St. Nicholas in Zanesville, Ohio, when she entered Holy Family Convent in Manitowoc in 1962. She professed final vows in 1969.
She was a graduate of Holy Family College in Manitowoc and earned a master of arts degree from the University of Dayton in Ohio and a master’s in pastoral studies from Loyola University in New Orleans.
Sr. Sharon ministered as a teacher in Wisconsin and Ohio.
She taught in the Diocese of Green Bay at St. Mary, Algoma; St. Agnes, Green Bay; and St. John, Seymour.
Sr. Sharon also served in Wisconsin as principal at St. John, Seymour; and St. Mary, Bloomington, and in Ohio at St. Benedict, Cambridge.
She was also involved in religious education at St. Agnes, Green Bay, and St. Benedict, Cambridge, and in personal care at parishes in Ohio.
Preceding Sr. Sharon in death were her parents, Norbert and Virginia (Coyle) Paul; a sister, Marilyn Paul; and brothers-in-law, Fred Freihofer and Robert Bruckner.
Sr. Sharon is survived by the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity; a brother (sister-in-law), Wayne (Cassie) Paul; sisters (brother-in-law) Pamela Freihofer, Dian Buckner and Cynthia (John) Hatfield; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The funeral Mass is scheduled for June 26 at Holy Family Convent. Franciscan Fr. Gerald Prusakowski will be the celebrant. Burial will follow in Holy Family Cemetery.
