Sr. Rosaire Pigeon, OSF, 87, who ministered for years teaching music, dies

MANITOWOC, WI — Sr. Rosaire Pigeon, OSF, a Franciscan Sister of Christian Charity, died at 87 at Aurora Medical Center in Two Rivers on Wednesday, May 13, 2026.

Sr. Rosaire was born Dorothy Ann Pigeon on June 12, 1938, to Norman and Catherine (Hart) Pigeon. Growing up, her home parish was St. Philip the Apostle Parish in Green Bay. 

She entered the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity in 1952 and professed final vows in 1962. 

Sr. Rosaire earned a bachelor of music degree from Silver Lake College, Manitowoc, Wisconsin, and a master of fine arts degree in music history through the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Her years of ministry were spent teaching classroom music and giving piano, guitar, accordion, violin, and organ lessons wherever she served. Her ministry took her to St. Therese, Appleton; St. Mary, Waukesha; Holy Family Conservatory of Music, Manitowoc; St. Mary, Kaukauna; Sacred Heart, Oshkosh; Holy Family, Green Bay, all in Wisconsin; St. Francis, Manistique, Michigan; Guardian Angels, West Point, Nebraska; and Immaculate Conception, Yuma, Arizona. 

While residing at Chiara Convent and St. Francis Convent, Manitowoc, she was a music instructor at Holy Family Conservatory of Music and continued her ministry as a musician for liturgies. 

Since 2022, Sr. Rosaire had resided in St. Rita Health Center and was a member of the Community’s Prayer Apostolate.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Catherine (Hart) Pigeon, and sister-in-law, Kathy Pigeon. 

She is survived by the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity; her brothers, Tom Pigeon, Jerry Pigeon, and David Pigeon; sister, Carol Boers; nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends

Sr. Rosaire’s funeral Mass was celebrated by Fr. David Pleier on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at Holy Family Convent in Manitowoc, with the burial following at Holy Family Convent Cemetery.
