MANITOWOC — Sr. Lucy Dorn, a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, died Sept. 4 at Holy Convent in Manitowoc. She was 92.
Sr. Lucy, the former Marie Dorn, was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Parish in Kiel when she entered the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity in 1945. She professed final vows in 1955.
Her ministry included serving as a homemaker at Catholic Memorial High School in Waukesha and at St. Paul in Wrightstown.
She taught at St. Philip School in Green Bay before earning a degree to work as a dietitian and instructor. Sr. Lucy was a graduate of Cardinal Stritch College in Milwaukee and earned a master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Stout in Menomonie.
She used her dietetic degree to minister at hospitals in Ohio and Nebraska. In Wisconsin, she served at Holy Family Hospital, Holy Family College and Holy Family Convent, all in Manitowoc, and at St. Paul Home in Kaukauna.
Sr. Lucy then moved into pastoral care at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Zanesville, Ohio, and at St. Rita Health Center in Manitowoc.
She also provided community service at St. Francis House of Prayer and Holy Family Convent, both in Manitowoc.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Peter and Bernadine (Walsdof) Dorn; brothers and a sister-in-law, Peter (Betty) Dorn and James Dorn; sisters and brothers-in-law, Bernadette (Wayne) Engelman, Jane (Peter) Salm, Janet Dorn and Particia Dorn.
Sr. Lucy is survived by the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity; a sister, Sr. Marie Bernadette Dorn; a brother and sisters-in-law, Patrick (Francine) Dorn and Joan Dorn; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The funeral Mass was celebrated on Sept. 7 at Holy Family Convent. Franciscan Fr. Placid Stroik presided. Burial followed in Holy Family Convent Cemetery.
