MANITOWOC — Sr. Cyrilla Jackels, 100, a Franciscan Sister of Christian Charity, died on April 5 at Holy Family Convent in Manitowoc.
Sr. Cyrilla, the former Elizabeth Marie Jackels, was a member of St. Mary Parish, Kaukauna, when she entered the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity in 1941. She professed final vows in 1949.
Sr. Cyrilla served as a teacher in Wisconsin, Hawaii, Arizona and Lima, Peru.
In the Diocese of Green Bay, she taught at St. Anthony, Neopit; St. John, Seymour; St. Michael, Whitelaw; Guardian Angels, Oneida; St. Paul, Manitowoc; Sacred Heart, Sherwood; St. Therese, Appleton; St. Ann, Francis Creek; St. Mary, Greenleaf; and Corpus Christi, Sawyer (Sturgeon Bay).
Following her years in the classroom, she served as a sponsor presence representative at Genesis HealthCare System in Zanesville, Ohio. She also later performed various tasks while at Holy Family Convent and St. Francis Convent, both in Manitowoc.
Preceding Sr. Cyrilla in death were her parents, Nickolas and Christian (Schmidt) Jackels; siblings (in-laws): Agnes Jackels, Marcella (George) Mielke, Norbert (Enid) (Salley) Jackels, Louis (Bernice) Jackels, Regina (Cyril) Halbach, Evelyn Jackels, Ethel Jackels and Dolores (Aloys) Van Camp.
She is survived by the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The funeral Mass will be held on April 9 at Holy Family Convent. Franciscan Fr. Gerald Prusakowski will be the celebrant. Burial will follow in Holy Family Convent Cemetery.
