MANITOWOC — Sr. Ann Joachim Haen, 98, a Franciscan Sister of Christian Charity, died on May 29 at Holy Family Convent in Manitowoc.
At the time she entered the order in 1941, Sr. Ann Joachim’s home parish was St. Francis, Hollandtown. She professed final vows in 1949.
She was a graduate of Holy Family College in Manitowoc and earned a master’s degree from Clarke College in Dubuque, Iowa.
Sr. Ann Joachim ministered as an educator in Wisconsin, California, Michigan and Hawaii.
In the Diocese of Green Bay, she taught at Sacred Heart, Oshkosh; St. Joseph, Oneida; St. Mary, Greenleaf; and St. Joseph and St. Bernard, both in Green Bay.
She served as a principal in the diocese at St. Mary, Algoma, and St. Joseph, Green Bay.
Sr. Ann Joachim, the former Hildegarde Haen, also assisted in various capacities at Xavier High School in Appleton, St. Francis Parish in Hollandtown, St. Mary Parish in Kaukauna, Silver Lake of the Holy Family College in Manitowoc and Holy Family Convent.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Gertrude (Bruecker) Haen; brothers (sisters-in-law): Raymond, Jerome (Mert), Eugene (Bernice) and Kenneth (Joan); and sisters (brother-in-law): Sr. St. Barbara and Marcella (Earl) Fink.
Sr. Ann Joachim is survived by the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity and a sister-in-law, Carol Haen, as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The funeral Mass is scheduled for June 4 at Holy Family Convent. Franciscan Fr. Placid Stroik will be the celebrant. Burial will follow in Holy Family Convent Cemetery.
