FREE FINANCIAL EDUCATION CLASSES: Kory Krauss, a financial health counselor for Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Green Bay, will be offering free financial education classes on Tuesdays, Sept. 24, Oct. 1 and Oct. 8, at 3 p.m. and repeated at 6:15 p.m. in Holy Family Social Hall, 2715 Taylor St., Marinette. The classes are “7 Keys to Financial Contentment,” “Understanding and Improving Credit” and “Budgeting, Savings and Other Q & A.” To register or for more information about financial health services offered by Catholic Charities, contact Krauss at kkrauss@gbdioc.org or call (920) 272-8252.  

SECOND STORE LOCATION: St. Vincent de Paul is opening a second thrift store location in Appleton. The grand opening for the second location, located at 1175 N. Westhill Blvd., will be held on Thursday, Oct. 3. Store hours at this location, situated on the corner of Westhill and Wisconsin Avenue, will be 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays. The store is closed on Sundays. The St. Vincent de Paul Store located at 1924 W. College Ave. in Appleton is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays.

ONLINE PRAYER FOR YOUNG ADULTS: The North American Vocation Team (NAVT) of the School Sisters of Notre Dame (SSND) invites young adults ages 18 and older to monthly online evening prayer at 7 p.m. on Tuesdays, Sept. 24, Oct. 22, Nov. 26 and Dec. 17, via Zoom. The online prayer typically lasts about an hour. Participants experience evening prayer in the rhythm of the liturgy of the hours, interspersed with faith sharing in small groups. Registration for the Zoom links is available at Events – School Sisters of Notre Dame (ssnd.org).  

HAUCK SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS: Four local nonprofit leaders will pursue Master of Business Administration (MBA) degrees at St. Norbert College (SNC), De Pere, through the Phil Hauck Scholarship for Nonprofit Leaders. 

The scholarship will cover half the cost of tuition to pursue an MBA through the SNC Schneider School of Business forGrace Cooper, marketing specialist with CP; Eric Sponholtz, executive director of Literacy Green Bay; Maddy Szymanski, annual giving coordinator at CP; and Jamy Xiong, Business and Community Health account executive with Bellin Health.

Since its first awards in 2021, the Phil Hauck Scholarship has awarded more than $65,000 in support to those pursuing further growth to support the community. A longtime champion of the local economy, the late Phil Hauck was also a strong supporter of nonprofit agencies in the region. The Phil Hauck Scholarship for Nonprofit Leaders was established in recognition of that.

Applicants must be employed by a nonprofit.
