In celebration of All Saints Day on Nov. 1, students and staff at St. Ignatius Catholic School and Chesterton Academy, Kaukauna, dressed up as saints. The school community also attended Holy Day Mass and witnessed the baptism of one of the first-grade students. Lunch on All Saints Day was provided by the Home and School Association. HOLY DAY OF OBLIGATION: This year, the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary on Dec. 8 falls on the Second Sunday of Advent, therefore, the observance of this feast day has been moved to Monday, Dec. 9.
In accordance with Canon 1246, the feast “must be observed as a day of obligation on the day to which it is transferred.” Thus, Monday, Dec. 9 is a day of obligatory Mass attendance.

FUTURE KNIGHTS: Lourdes Academy will hold “Future Freshman Knight” at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18, in Bill Behring Commons at the school, 110 N. Sawyer St., Oshkosh. This informational meeting will include discussion about enrollment time frames, scheduling and the transition from middle school to high school. A question-and-answer session will be offered for both students and parents. Teachers and administrators will be available. Tours will be provided. SCHOOL INVITE: Roncalli High School will host “7th/8th Grade Day,” 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, at Roncalli High School, 2000 Mirro Drive in Manitowoc. Seventh and eighth grade students will have an opportunity to get to know more about Roncalli, which includes a tour of the school with current students and classroom visits. They will also meet teachers and learn about extracurriculars and fine arts. Students and their chaperones will be Roncalli’s guests for lunch. Transportation may be available. NEW HOSPITAL CAO: HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital Medical Center in Green Bay has announced Leah Bergstrom as chief administrative officer (CAO). The CAO is a new role at HSHS that provides on-site, localized leadership which oversees nursing, operations and all other organizational functions of the hospital.

Bergstrom’s journey with HSHS’s Green Bay ministries began 25 years ago at HSHS St. Vincent Hospital. She joined the hospital in 1999 as a bedside nurse, then advanced into serving as a house supervisor and then was named as director of the nursing departments at both HSHS St. Mary’s and HSHS St. Vincent. 

She most recently served as the director of Emergency Service, Trauma, SANE, Access One and Central Transport for both HSHS St. Mary’s and HSHS St. Vincent. 

Bergstrom received her Bachelor of Science from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and holds a Master of Science in Nursing from Concordia University in Mequon, Wis.

HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL PLAYOFFS: Lena/St. Thomas Aquinas (Marinette) will play Owen-Withee for the WIAA 8-player state football championship at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, at Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln High School. The Titans defeated Northwood/Solon Springs 38-14 in the semifinals on Nov. 8 in Rhinelander to advance to the title game. The Notre Dame Academy Tritons (Green Bay) advanced to the semifinals of the WIAA Division 3 football playoffs with a 28-6 victory at Grafton on Nov. 8. The Tritons will play La Crosse Logan on Friday, Nov. 15, at Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln High School.
