LITURGICAL MINISTRY TRAINING: All parishioners who serve as extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion are required to take a course offered by the Office of Divine Worship of the Diocese of Green Bay. Workshops focus on training those who already serve as extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion as well as those who wish to begin in this volunteer ministry. CLASS PLAY: The Junior Class of Chesterton Academy of St. John Paul II Classical School will present “Canticle of the Sun,” a play about the early lives of St. Francis and St. Clare at 5:30 p.m. Friday, May 10, and 1:30 and 5 p.m. Saturday, May 11, at the Our Lady of Lourdes School gymnasium, 1305 Lourdes Ave., De Pere. Doors open 35 minutes prior to the performance. Tickets are $5 for students and $10 for adults. The show is approximately 100 minutes long with a 15-minute intermission.

HEALTH PRESENTATION: Dr. Mike Hodulik, M.D., a parishioner at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, will discuss the signs and symptoms of anxiety, depression and suicide at a free program, 6 p.m. Monday, May 13, at the parish, 2771 Oakwood Drive, Green Bay. BAND CONCERT: The eighth and final concert of the 42nd season of the AVB Community Band will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, May 13, at the Ashwaubenon Performing Arts Center, 2391 S. Ridge Road. Doors open at 6 p.m. Donations are accepted before and after the concert. The concert’s theme is “Amazing and Outrageous.” Selections will include music from the film “Superman” by John Williams, “Blues Brothers Revue” and an original arrangement titled “Let There Be Light.” A collection of personal care items and cleaning supplies, sponsored by AmVets Post 11, for area veterans (timed with Memorial Day) will be held before the concert in the lobby. Items for both men and women are requested. The Ashwaubenon High School Show Choir will be selling Seroogy’s candy bars in the lobby. The concert is sponsored by Charles and Judy Hastert. ADOPTION PRESENTATION: Catholic Charities is sponsoring an Adoption Informational Session at 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, in Bona Hall, Diocese of Green Bay campus, 1825 Riverside Drive, Green Bay. Learn about the adoption process and the programs offered. There is no fee to attend, but registration is required by calling (920) 272-8230.

SCHOOL FUNDRAISER: “Celebration Dance” will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, May 17, in the gymnasium at Sacred Heart School, 124 E. Center St. in Shawano. Parent/guardian supervision is required for children. The event will include music and dancing, a bake sale, a taco bar for $5 per person, raffle baskets, “Chuck-a-Duck,” “Pie Our Priest & Principal” ($5 a pie) and a blessing by Fr. Edward Looney, pastor of Sacred Heart Parish. All proceeds support Sacred Heart School.

CAMP OPEN HOUSE: Registered families for the summer of 2024 and any who may be interested in joining are invited to an open house at Camp Tekakwitha on Loon Lake in Shawano, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, May 19. SPIRITUALITY AND BEER: Michael Poradek, Ph.D., will present “Spirituality of Beer Brewing,” 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, May 30, at the Norbertine Center for Spirituality at St. Norbert Abbey, 1016 N. Broadway, De Pere. Enjoy a sampling of brews and learn about the long connection between spirituality and beer, including Norbertine beers. All attendees must be at least 21 years old. EWTN FILMING: The National Shrine of Our Lady of Champion, 4047 Chapel Drive, Champion, seeks audience members for EWTN filming, 10 a.m. and 12 noon, Tuesday, June 4, and 10 a.m., 12 noon and 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 5. FAMILY CAMP WEEKEND: All ages are welcome to “Family Camp Weekend,” Friday, June 7, to Sunday, June 9, at Camp Tekakwitha, located on Loon Lake in Shawano. The weekend will include boating, swimming, praying, hiking, crafting and overnight camping. Cabins are currently full, but tent or RV camping is still an option. The registration fee is $50 per person in a tent with a cap of $300 per family. Registration provides five meals, a t-shirt and all weekend activities. SPIRITUS TEAM: Spiritus seeks young adults to serve as part of a missionary team leading students into an encounter with Jesus and igniting their faith. Spiritus missionaries live in community and travel throughout Wisconsin from mid-August to mid-May facilitating retreats for Catholic students in grades 2-12. Missionaries receive a monthly stipend, one-on-one mentoring, spiritual direction, food, lodging, health insurance and a $3,000 completion stipend. Applications are due by July 1. NORBERTINE DONATION: The Norbertine Community of St. Norbert Abbey, De Pere, donated $100,000 to Green Bay-based NorthEast Wisconsin Community Clinic. Norbertine Abbot Dane Radecki presented the donation to Kim Franzen, CEO of N.E.W. Community Clinic, on April 29. The Norbertines’ donation is designated to specifically support the clinic’s Behavioral Health and Dental Health programs. The Norbertines’ support of N.E.W. Community Clinic is part of a special initiative celebrating the 900th anniversary of the founding of the Norbertine Order in France by St. Norbert of Xanten in 1121. Started in 2021 and continuing for a total of nine years, annual jubilee grants for $100,000 are being awarded by the Norbertine Community of St. Norbert Abbey through its Augustine Stewardship Fund. The fund provides grants locally and internationally to nonprofit organizations to assist those in need. Previous jubilee grants were presented to Jahara Mission Elementary School in India in 2021, Habitat for Humanity in 2022 and four local food pantries – Community Pantry of Pulaski, Christian Outreach Food Pantry, Hope Center Pantry and Manna for Life Ministries – in 2023.

TRIVIA NIGHT FUNDRAISER: The Holy Family School Site Advisory Council, Green Bay, is offering “Trivia Night,” Friday, May 17, at the District Event Center, 788 Armed Forces Drive, Green Bay. BREAKFAST LECTURE SERIES: Barb LaMue, president and CEO of New North Inc., will present “Building the Regional Economy with Midwestern Roots and Global Reach” in the sixth and final installment of the 25th season of the CEO Breakfast Series at St. Norbert College. The event will be held from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 23, in the Hendrickson Dining Room of the F. K. Bemis Conference Center at St. Norbert College, De Pere. OSHKOSH EUCHARISTIC PROCESSIONS: Eucharistic processions will be held in Oshkosh on the feast of Corpus Christi, Sunday June 2. Processions will leave from each parish for Lourdes Academy. Procession departure times are 2 p.m. from St. Raphael the Archangel Parish, 2:20 p.m. from the St. Peter site of Most Blessed Sacrament Parish and 2:40 p.m. from the Sacred Heart site of St. Jude the Apostle Parish. Benediction will begin at 3 p.m. at Lourdes Academy.   

ROME PILGRIMAGE: Prince of Peace Catholic Community, Green Bay (Bellevue), is offering a pilgrimage to Rome and Assisi, Sept. 30 to Oct. 9, 2024. The trip will include the ordination to the diaconate of Nicholas Stellpflug at St. Peter’s Basilica. Stellpflug is a seminarian for the Diocese of Green Bay who studies at Pontifical North American College in Rome. HOSPITAL EARNS GOLD SEAL: HSHS St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for Advanced Certification in Perinatal Care (ACPC), in collaboration with the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. HSHS St. Vincent Hospital underwent a rigorous onsite review in February 2024 as part of the certification process. Advanced Certification in Perinatal Care recognizes HSHS St. Vincent Hospital’s efforts to achieve integrated, coordinated and patient-centered prenatal through postpartum care, including for both complicated and uncomplicated pregnancies. The certification uses standards, guidelines and The Joint Commission’s perinatal care measure set for managing and monitoring aspects of perinatal care that are critical to improving and maintaining the health of newborns and their mothers.
