BACK-TO-BACK STATE CHAMPIONS: The Notre Dame Academy (Green Bay) boys’ hockey team defeated the Brookfield Stars 3-1 to win the WIAA Division 1 state championship on March 2 at Bob Suter’s Capitol Ice Arena in Middleton. This was Notre Dame’s second consecutive state hockey title. Senior forward Joseph Coghlin scored two goals for the Tritons. Senior defenseman Bryce Dahl also scored for Notre Dame. Coghlin, freshman forward Andrew Ostermann and junior defenseman Wyatt Herres recorded assists, and senior Lleyton Jaschke made 16 saves in net in the title game. Notre Dame finished the season with a 19-8-1 record.

MUSICAL VARIETY SHOW: Roncalli High School will present the musical variety show “Roncalli Has Talent: A Little Bit of This, A Little Bit of That,” 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, March 14-16, at Roncalli High School’s Zimmer Auditorium in the Fine Arts Center, 2000 Mirro Drive, Manitowoc. Consolmagno was appointed director of the Vatican Observatory by Pope Francis in 2015. He has a doctorate. in planetary science from the University of Arizona in Tucson.
