News Briefs – June 27

AUCTION SUCCESS: The 40th Annual Roncalli Pierside Auction achieved a milestone by raising approximately $10,000 more than last school year. This year’s auction resulted in more than $310,000 in proceeds — which included raising almost $3,000 more during the online portion of the event than in 2023. The auction’s proceeds benefit the students of Roncalli Elementary School, Roncalli Middle School and Roncalli High School, all in Manitowoc.

The 40th auction included the online component and in-person event. A diverse range of items were available for bidding online from April 25-29, which were different from those that were available at the in-person event, which took place on April 27 at Roncalli High School.

The Roncalli Pierside Auction provides funding for Roncalli schools primarily in the area of tuition assistance. About 65 percent of Roncalli families receive some form of tuition assistance. Gifts to the auction allow Roncalli Catholic Schools to continue serving students of all economic backgrounds.

The 41st annual Roncalli Pierside Auction will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Roncalli High School, 2000 Mirro Drive in Manitowoc.

ART CONTEST WINNER: Kennedy Sunita of Clintonville is one of 17 national winners of the 2023-2024 Missionary Childhood Association (MCA) Christmas Artwork Contest. Sunita’s recognition marks the eighth consecutive year that an entry from the Diocese of Green Bay was among the winners. MCA is a worldwide organization for Catholic youth, sponsored by the pope through Pontifical Mission Societies. The theme of the 2023-2024 contest was “Mother and Child.” The Catholic Foundation for the Diocese of Green Bay selects four diocesan winners in four age groups. The artwork of the 16 diocesan winners is then submitted to the national contest. All national winners receive a commemorative plaque.
