Sr. Marlita Henseler elected community director of Franciscan Sisters

MANITOWOC, WI — The General Chapter of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity elected Sr. Marlita Henseler as their next community director on June 23, 2025 at the Holy Family Convent Motherhouse. 

The next members to serve on the council to assist the community director were also elected as follows: Sr. Pamela Biehl as first councilor, Sr. Anne Turba as second councilor, Sr. Jacqueline Spaniola as third councilor and Sr. Carol Ann Gambsky as fourth councilor. 

These sisters are “now called to strengthen the bond of unity which exists among us, promoting the common good, and thus helping us all to build Christ’s Church in the world today,” said an announcement that was posted on the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity website.

The election process began with a Mass celebrated by Bishop David Ricken, who also made the announcement of election results to the sisters following the counting of the ballots. 

Sr. Michelle Marie Ozuna makes first profession of vows

MANITOWOC, WI — Sr. Michelle Marie Ozuna made her first profession of vows on June 13 in the Congregation of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity at a liturgy celebrated by Fr. David Beaudry.

Sr. Natalie Binversie, community director of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, received the vows of Sr. Michelle Marie. The Franciscan Sisters witnessed the event along with family members and friends.

Sr. Michelle Marie is the daughter of the late Belinda Gongora and Michael Ozuna.

She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Austin, Texas, before entering the convent. She had served as executive assistant for the Office of the Attorney General in Austin, Texas. 

Sr. Michelle Marie is pursuing an associate degree in nursing at Lakeshore College in Cleveland, Wis.

Felician Village car show canceled due to impending weather

MANITOWOC, WI — The Felician Village and Shoreline Hometown Credit Union Car Show scheduled to take place on Thursday, June 26 from 4:30 p.m. – 7 p.m. at The Gardens at Felician Village, 1700 S. 18th Street, Manitowoc is canceled due to impending thunderstorms and rain.

Felician Village invites car owners to bring their vehicles for viewing to the Summer Concert Series at The Gardens, featuring Elvis tribute artist, John Hardinski on Wednesday, August 6, from 4:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

The Gardens at Felician Village is located at 1700 S. 18th St., Manitowoc. Bring a chair and enjoy the free show.

Food and beverages will be available for purchase that evening from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m.

Any car or truck can attend for free, no RSVP is needed.
