Diocese of Green Bay responds to devastating Fox Cities tornado
GREEN BAY, WI – In response to the call from Bishop David Ricken to “place our hearts and hands at the service of one another at this difficult time,” Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Green Bay is on the ground in Menasha working with other responding agencies to deliver assistance to individuals and families impacted by the storm.
Operating from its Menasha office at 1475 Opportunity Way, the Catholic Charities team is connecting those affected with short-term housing options and financial resources to help meet their immediate needs.
Thanks to a grant from Catholic Charities USA Disaster Response Fund, Catholic Charities is able to provide emergency financial assistance to eligible households. Through its partnership with the Airbnb Foundation, Catholic Charities can also offer short-term housing vouchers for stays of up to 10 days, helping displaced individuals and families secure safe temporary accommodations while they begin the recovery process.

Casa Esther awarded a $5,000 grant from Renew Wisconsin
OMRO, WI – RENEW Wisconsin recently announced the award of a $5,000 Solar for Good Grant to help support the installation of a 4.7 kWh solar array. The solar array is expected to cover approximately 70% of the annual electrical needs for Casa Esther. The Solar for Good Grant will be supplemented by a community member’s donation that will also cover energy efficiency upgrades. Appleton Solar has been contracted to make the installation for Casa Esther.
Casa Esther was established in 2008 to serve the needs of the immigrant community in the surrounding area to support the community’s spiritual needs, teach music, offer translation services, and assist with basic living needs.
Today, Casa Esther’s range of services has expanded to include assistance with basic needs including rent, utilities, gas and grocery cards to all Winnebago County residents in need.
The organization also runs a garden program that engages local youth and provides produce to local food pantries, as well as a non-violence advocacy and education program.
