SEEKING FOOD PANTRY LEADERSHIP IN GREEN BAY: The Hope Center Pantry (formerly known as St. Patrick’s Pantry) directors have announced they will be stepping down at the end of May 2025. The plan is for new pantry leadership to be a shared responsibility. As a result, volunteers to serve in the management of the pantry are being sought. An informational meeting will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, at the Hope Center Pantry, 505 Clinton St., Green Bay. Training for new roles is expected to begin after Jan. 15, 2025. Job descriptions have been prepared for each leadership role along with estimates of how many hours per week or month each of these roles will require. According to the pantry website, overhead for the program is provided by the following local parishes: Quad-Parishes (Annunciation, St. Joseph, St. Jude and St. Patrick), Nativity, St. Agnes and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. These same parishes along with Holy Cross, Old St. Joseph, Resurrection and St. Matthew regularly provide monetary and/or food donations as well as volunteers. 

SUMMER MUSIC CAMP: The Green Bay Boy and Girl Youth Choirs of St. Norbert College, De Pere, will host “WE SING! Summer Music Camp,” 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon, Monday, Aug. 5, at Calvary Lutheran Church, 1301 S. Ridge Road, Green Bay. The camp offers an opportunity for youth, ages 6 to 18, to immerse in choral music as the Youth Choirs prepare for their 45th season, which begins in September. NEWMAN CENTER WISH LIST: The Titan Catholics Oshkosh Newman Center, located at 800 Elmwood Ave., seeks donations to purchase items on its wish list. The items include a new cabinet to store kitchen items and a counter to serve meals, dynamic speakers, a laptop, an outdoor statue of St. Mother Teresa of Kolkata and new door locks. CELEBRATING MILESTONE WEDDING ANNIVERSARIES: A wedding anniversary Mass will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral, Green Bay, to honor couples marking 25, 50, 60, 65, 70 and 75 years of marriage in 2024. Bishop David Ricken will be the celebrant at this bilingual liturgy. To register, contact your parish office. The registration deadline is Friday, Aug. 30.

FOOTBALL ALL-STARS: Three 2024 graduates from Catholic high schools in the Diocese of Green Bay played in the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association All-Star Games on Saturday, July 20, at Titan Stadium in Oshkosh. Defensive end Stanley Smith of Norte Dame Academy in Green Bay played for the North Large squad. Outside linebacker Reid Hietpas and kicker A.J. Seider, teammates from Xavier High School in Appleton, were members of the North Small roster. Players were tasked with collecting donations to play in the games. All financial gifts and proceeds from the games support Children’s Wisconsin.

BASKETBALL ALL-STARS: The Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association held its 2024 all-star games at JustAGame Fieldhouse in Wisconsin Dells. Several recent graduates from diocesan high schools took the court. The girls’ all-star games were held on June 26. The boys’ all-stars played on June 27. Sydney Whitehouse of Notre Dame Academy, Green Bay, was a member of the Division 2 North girls’ team. Audrey Norville of St. Mary Catholic, Neenah, played for the Division 4 North girls. Fisher MacKenzie represented St. Mary Catholic in the Division 4 boys’ all-star game. J.J. McKellips of Lourdes Academy, Oshkosh, played in the Division 5 boys’ game. All proceeds from the games and donations collected by the players support the MACC Fund (Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer).
