BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT: The Holy Cross Men’s Open basketball tournament begins play on Friday, March 22, in Carl Giordana Gym, 320 Kaukauna St., Kaukauna. HOLY ROSARY SOCIETY MEETING: The Confraternity of the Most Holy Rosary, St. Agnes Chapter, invites all to gather at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March. 19, at St. Agnes Church, 1484 Ninth St., Green Bay. STUDENT VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES: Students, age 15 and older, are invited to apply for year-round volunteer opportunities at Ascension Mercy Hospital, 500 S. Oakwood Road, Oshkosh. Volunteers are needed at the reception desk, information desk and Oakwood desk to greet and help patients find their destinations in the hospital. Duties may also include helping visitors at the registration kiosk and transport of patients in wheelchairs. Weekend and evening opportunities are also available in emergency room reception and the emergency room department. Duties may include collecting patient demographic data for registration, restocking, maintaining a clean waiting room, running errands and cleaning rooms. YOUTH SOCCER: St. Joseph Wildcats Youth Soccer is forming coed leagues for the fall. Grades five and six will play on Mondays and Wednesdays. Grades seven and eight will play on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The home field will be Marquette Park, 1061 Hickory Hill Drive, Green Bay. The season will begin on Sept. 3 and end on Nov. 8. LECTURE: Jesuit Br. Guy Consolmagno will present “When Science Goes Wrong — And Why We Love It!” at the 2024 Dr. Benjamin T. Chu Distinguished Lecture at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, at Fort Howard Theater in the F. K. Bemis International Center, St. Norbert College campus, 100 Grant St., De Pere. Br. Consolmagno was appointed director of the Vatican Observatory by Pope Francis in 2015. He has a doctorate in planetary science from the University of Arizona in Tucson.
