RETIREMENT COLLECTION: The Retirement Collection for the Diocesan Priests’ Retirement and National Retirement Fund for Religious is underway. For more than 25 years, U.S. Catholic parishes have participated in the Retirement Collection. This special collection also supports retired priests in the Diocese of Green Bay. There are approximately 90 senior priests in the diocese receiving retirement benefits. The average retired diocesan priest receives $1,500 from the priest’s pension fund. Help is needed to supplement the fund over the next 20 years. There are also more than 25,000 religious sisters, brothers and priests age 70 and older living in the United States. Today, retired religious are projected to outnumber wage-earning religious by more than three to one. Contributions are tax deductible.
