The 70th anniversary of Rural Life Day in the Diocese of Green Bay was celebrated on May 15, the feast day of St. Isidore the Farmer. St. Isidore is the patron saint of farmers and laborers.

About 150 people from Northeast Wisconsin attended the annual Rural Life Day Mass celebrated by Bishop David Ricken at Prince of Peace Parish in Green Bay.
A blessing of seeds, beehives and soil followed the Mass. There was also a procession of farm tractors, which were blessed by Bishop Ricken.
A luncheon followed, featuring a talk by Fr. Mark Mleziva, vocations director for the Diocese of Green Bay, on the importance of hard work, family and God in farming.
Fr. Mleziva drove his grandfather’s Minneapolis Moline tractor to and from the event.
