LUXEMBURG, WI — The annual Round Robin Showmanship competition at the Kewaunee County Fair was held on Friday, July 11, 2025. Fr. Matthew Colle, pastor of Holy Family Parish, Brillion, served as one of the guest livestock judges at the competition. The event is part of the fair’s livestock program, which showcases the skills of 4-H and FFA youth exhibitors.

Fr. Colle celebrated three years as a priest for the Diocese of Green Bay on July 2, 2025.

“I grew up on a farm raising beef cattle and sheep, and (my two brothers and I) would show the beef cattle and sheep at that county fair and other shows as well,” Fr. Colle said.

Top junior exhibitors were represented at the competition from eight categories of animal species, which were horse, pig, beef cow, dairy cow, lamb, goat, chicken, and rabbit.

Participants rotated through stations, demonstrating their ability to handle and present multiple animal species. Judges evaluated competitors based on their handling techniques, animal care knowledge, and presentation skills.

Fr. Colle was invited to come back and judge livestock at the fair and was given the choice to judge in any category.

“I wanted to judge beef cattle because they are the ones I’m most familiar with,” he said.

Open to the public, the event drew spectators from the area including parents, families and friends of the participants.
