MILWAUKEE — Bishop Jeffrey Grob has been named the 12th Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee by Pope Francis, the Vatican announced Monday, Nov. 4.
He will succeed Archbishop Jerome Listecki, who gave his required notice of retirement on his 75th birthday on March 12.
Archbishop-Designate Grob, 63, who is from Cross Plains, Wis., currently serves as auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Chicago. where he was ordained a bishop on Nov. 13, 2020.
Bishop David Ricken released the following statement:
“It is with a grateful heart that I welcome Bishop Jeffrey S. Grob, auxiliary bishop of Chicago, back to his home state of Wisconsin, to shepherd the faithful of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee as their 12th Archbishop. Bishop Grob has served the people of the Archdiocese of Chicago faithfully for over 30 years and I look very forward to getting to know the Archbishop-Designee better and working with him to bring all people to the Kingdom of God.
I extend my best wishes to Archbishop Jerome Listecki on his retirement and commend him for his devotion to the people and communities of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee and the state of Wisconsin. May the Lord abundantly bless Archbishop Listecki, Archbishop-Designee Grob and all the people of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee during this joyful time of transition.”
